Dental Veneers

Transform your smile with dental veneers form Gosforth Dental Surgery.

If you ever wondered how celebrities get that Hollywood smile then read on, as porcelain veneers are one of the quickest and easiest ways we can transform your smile. When teeth are uneven or damaged, veneers can be the ideal choice to give the appearance of perfectly straight, natural looking teeth. Veneers are very thin porcelain sheets that bond to the surface of the prepared tooth.

Dental veneers are very thin but once bonded to the tooth are unbelievably strong. They are able to block out undesirable colours, such as from a very dark underlying tooth and allow the beauty of the veneers to shine through. In our Newcastle Practice, we frequently use dental veneers to create a smile that is natural and beautiful.

Thanks to the modern construction and bonding techniques used in the process, you can also rest assured that your veneers will be hardwearing and very long-lasting. At Gosforth Dental Surgery, we ensure our patients have all the information they need to make an informed choice about the treatments they receive. As part of this, your dentist will carry out a diagnostic wax up where you can trial your dental veneers prior to going ahead with the definitive treatment.

Dental Veneers in Steps

Firstly, we understand your aims from having dental veneers and discuss your ideal smile. Your dentist at Gosforth Dental Surgery will take some x-rays and photographs of your teeth to ensure a very natural result.

During your visit to our Newcastle Dental Practice, the teeth are prepared slightly to make room for their veneers. A mould is taken of this area and then used to create the crowns and bridge. At this stage, we’ll also determine the right shade for your veneer and you’ll be fitted with a temporary veneer to wear until your new one is ready.

The last visit will involve removing the temporary veneers and fitting the new one. Your dentist at Gosforth Dental Surgery will check the fit and bite and make any necessary adjustments. Once we’re happy it fits well and delivers a good bite, we’ll cement it into place and you walk out a new you.

Frequently asked questions

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain made to fit over the front surface of a tooth, like a false fingernail fits over a nail. They can improve the colour, shape and appearance of your teeth. A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured or stained tooth or to lighten front teeth generally. At our Newcastle Dental Practice our smile makeovers start at the consultation where we find out what clients don’t like about their teeth and what type of smile is required.

At Gosforth Dental Surgery, we use veneers to correct a number of concerns, whether your teeth are crooked, uneven, chipped, gapped, protruding or discoloured. At your initial consultation, your dentist will discuss with you all the treatment options that are suitable for your teeth.

The number of veneers you have will depend on the level of perfection you are looking for. Usually your dentist will veneer the teeth from the centre outwards and do them in multiples of two so that you always have symmetry.

At Gosforth Dental Surgery, an average treatment we do is 4-6 veneers on the front teeth and a whitening treatment on the rest, so that your whole smile gets a lift without having to veneer every tooth

No, because the process is either very minimal preparation or preparation-free. In most cases it can be done without anaesthetics too. Modern techniques mean that, even if you do require local anaesthetic, this can be undertaken with the minimum amount of discomfort. At our Newcastle dental practice, your dentists endeavour to make the whole experience as pain-free and relaxed as possible.

In most cases at Gosforth Dental Surgery, just 2 to 3 appointments are needed to complete the veneering process. The appointments last on average 90 minutes. After your initial consultation. your dentist will provide you with the number of appointments needed.
